Innovation anthology, Neon Horror Zine

Release of Neon Horror and a flash fiction acceptance!

Hello!

So… Since my author copies were already on the way, I was going to wait a couple of days and announce the release of the Neon Horror anthology with a selfie of me holding the book. Then the postal service decided that actually delivering packages was so 2019, and subsequently it got kind of awkward to make a release post without that selfie, because the book had already been out for 2 weeks… But now I have some other news as well, so this is the perfect time to finally write this post.

And since acting as if everything is going as planned is a 2020 mood, here we go…

Wonderful news: the beautifully printed Neon Horror: an Anthology of Terrors by Creators from the LGBTQIA+ Community is out now!!!

Neon Horror: an anthology of terrors by creators from the LGBTQIA+ community (2020)

This full-colour anthology contains art and short stories in the horror genre. The Lost by L.S. Reinholt and me (aside from having a title that the mail clearly found very inspiring) is about two travellers in space whose logs and maps have been erased. When they encounter another ship, they hope they’ve found a solution, but instead lose even more…

Buy Neon Horror in The Haunted Bouncy Castle webshop!

The same webshop also has a lot of fun and colourful queer horror objects, ranging from cups to pillows to pins to prints for on your wall, so be sure to check it out. They have a Pride sale of 10% off until the end of this month.

Then, today’s very fresh news is that my flash story The Emperor’s New Helmet is accepted in this year’s anthology of the Queer Sci Fi flash fiction contest. The theme was “Innovation” and you can see the full list of the 120 included titles here on the Queer Sci Fi website. It also includes stories by my friends E.D.E. Bell, Ava Kelly, and L.S. Reinholt!

I finished reading last year’s edition, Migration, only a few weeks ago and was surprised by the great quality of all those stories, so I look forward to reading Innovation as well. It will be out on August 8, 2020, after the honorable mentions, judges’ picks and winners have been announced. In the meantime, I certainly recommend Migration if you’re in the mood for some bite-sized stories (all under 300 words).

And for even more flash fiction, I will refer to Paranatellonta, where we posted the 284th free photo-and-story combo today for your enjoyment.

That’s all the news for now!

Love,

Minerva

Migration anthology, Sherlock Holmes

Flash fiction and essay publication

Hi!

Time for some news about future publications!

My story Not How We Planned It was selected for publication in the Migration anthology by Queer Sci Fi. The book will contain 120 flash fiction stories that have 300 words or less, all with a speculative element and queer representation. As there were over 250 entries for the flash fiction contest this year, I’m honoured that my story was chosen to be part of the book! You can see the full list of published stories here. Note that my friends Ava Kelly and Ether Nepenthes are in there too! *high fives*

The Migration anthology will be out on July 24, 2019. On that day the contest winners will also be announced, so if you’re curious about that part, keep an eye on the Queer Sci Fi website. (But don’t be afraid to miss anything; I’ll blog about the book release as soon as I’m back from my holiday.)

And then, a first: the publication of a piece of non-fiction! I know, it’s shocking, but I promise it won’t be boring.

L.S. Reinholt and I will have an essay in the Sherlock Holmes is Everywhere! anthology from Belanger Books. It’s going to be a charity collection for The Beacon Society. In the essay, we talk about how we met thanks to Sherlock Holmes, and how the great detective shaped the way we work together. We had a lot of fun writing the essay, and we look forward to reading the stories about how Mr Holmes influenced other writers’ lives. As soon as there’s any news about the release date and where you’ll be able to buy the book, you’ll hear from me.

But first I’ll be counting down a little longer to a holiday in Paris! I hope you’ll all have a great summer full of wonderful stories.

The World’s Greatest Detective in the Retro Futuristic Realms of Steampunk!
Imagine a slight change to our historical timeline where the Industrial Revolution heated up much quicker than expected. Technological marvels such as airships, trains, battleships, and submarines came into being much earlier. They were followed by steam-powered wonders such as mechanical men, flying ships, and even crafts capable of reaching the deepest fathoms of the sea or traveling to distant celestial orbs.
That is the world where Sherlock Holmes and his Boswell, Dr. Watson, find themselves in Sherlock Holmes: Adventures in the Realms of Steampunk.

Mechanical Men and Otherworldly Endeavours – Volume two of the anthology features stories with a focus on robotic creatures and otherworldly adventures. See Holmes team up with intelligent animals from an alternate Earth, switch bodies with Dr. Watson, and travel to another dimension.

Table of contents:
• The Adventure of the Purloined Piston Valve by L.S. Reinholt & Minerva Cerridwen (The Dragon of Ynys)
• The Deductive Man by Paul Hiscock (Under the Weather)

An Interview with Snap

Hello!

A new character interview was published today, this time with Snap, the dragon of Ynys himself! You can read it here: http://candidceillie.com/character-interview-snap-the-dragon-of-ynys/

I also realise I haven’t shown off my absolutely awesome phone cover yet, here on the blog. And a friend made this brilliant keychain for me! My eternal thanks to her, and of course to Kirby Crow for the design of The Dragon of Ynys‘ cover.

I also rearranged my website a little, mainly making the Stories page a lot neater than it was. Have a look around and let me know what you think!

Darkling’s Cover Reveal!

Darkling’s Beasts and Brews: Poetry with a Drink on the Side has a cover! And an awesome one too, in my opinion.

A larger version and the Table of Contents of this horror poetry anthology can be found on LVP Publications’ Facebook page. The book contains my Frankenspider and Haiku, and the great L.S. Reinholt, with whom I’ve written a science fiction novel which we’re currently editing, also has two poems in it. Every poem will be paired with a drinks recipe (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and I can’t wait to see those combinations! Release date to be announced later.

I’d also like to remind you that there’s only 10 days left in the Love & Bubbles Kickstarter! Go take a look if you think you might enjoy an LGBTQA underwater anthology (short stories). We can use your support!
